What is World Youth Day?
Every two or three years the World Youth Day is an opportunity for young people aged 14 and above to get together for a big event at which they are joined by the Pope. This tradition began in 1984, and groups from the diocese have been to WYDs across the globe.
During his recent trip to Great Britain, Pope Benedict personally invited all young people to attend the WYD in Madrid in 2011.
