Communion and Mission - Introduction

Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor
Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor
In 2002 I asked a small team of priests and lay people to consult you, all our people, about our future. Your response to the consultation, which was summarised in the Graced by the Spirit ‘Green Paper’, has now resulted in publication of the ‘White Paper’, Communion and Mission.

Communion and Mission outlines five priorities which seem to me to be a proper response to the needs of the Church in our Diocese. In the coming months I will set out in more detail how each of the five priorities in the ‘White Paper’ is to be implemented.

But the real responsibility for fulfilling this plan lies with you, the People of God in Westminster. It is my fervent hope and prayer that all of us in the Diocese will move forward confidently into the next stage of our journey. We know that this is not our effort alone. The grace of God, and the assurance of His presence amongst us, are our strength.
