posted on 04 April 2012 Will you help give a voice to Christians around the world who suffer persecution and oppression for their faith? To help shine a spotlight in this important issue, please make a stand for faith and freedom by joining Aid to the Church in Need for all or part of our Night of Witness. Why not bring family and friends or a parish group to make this an evening of prayer and action. Together we will remember the suffering Church worldwide, make people aware of the vital importance of religious liberty and call on the government to make religious freedom a top priority. The build up will start from 4pm on the Cathedral Piazza and will be followed at 5.30pm by Sung Mass in Westminster Cathedral then at 6.30pm Rally for Religious Freedom on the Piazza, concluding at 7.30pm – 8.30pm by a Vigil of Light in Westminster Cathedral. • Guests from our diocese include Archbishop Vincent Nichols and Fr David Reilly, Diocesan Youth Chaplain – greeting participants on the piazza. As a prelude to the Vigil of Light, there will be moving, faith-filled performances on the Piazza from Catholic band ‘ooberfuse’, winners of the World Youth Day 2011 global song contest, the Eliot Smith Dance Company debuting new piece Persecuted and Forgotten, singer Helen Munt. The West End Gospel Choir, Christian musician Hammad Baily and Catholic poet Sarah de Nordwall. Please do join us. To find out more or to register your interest go to www.acnuk.org/vigil |
