Rome rules out papal visit to UK next year
|
|
posted on 22 March 2006 The Secretariat of State of the Holy See has indicated to the Archbishop of Westminster that a papal visit to the UK will not be possible in 2007, as Pope Benedict has already made many commitments, including some foreign trips, in the course of next year. There has been no further indication as to whether a later visit might be possible. Quoting a single, unnamed source, the Daily Mirror reported recently on its front page that a date had been set for a papal visit in September 2007. The newspaper went ahead with its report in spite of denials from official church sources. |
