Head of Catholic Church in Ireland created a Cardinal

posted on 17 October 2007 The head of the Catholic Church in Ireland, Archbishop Sean Brady, is to be made a Cardinal. Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, Archbishop of Westminster, said: “I am delighted that the Holy Father has decided to create Archbishop Sean Brady as a Cardinal. In a quiet and steadfast way Archbishop Brady has made an outstanding contribution to peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland. I myself, together with his countless other friends, warmly welcome this recognition of his devoted service to the Church and his admission to the College of Cardinals.” |
