The Parish holds regular marriage days for those who either
live or work in the City. The Parish is also able to complete the necessary
paperwork and undertake the essential task of spiritual and human preparation
for marriage. There will be three preparation days through the year for all
those couples who wish either to be married here, in St Mary Moorfields Church,
elsewhere in Great Britain or abroad. Attendance at one marriage day is
compulsory for those who wish to be prepared through this Church. Please
contact the Church to arrange an initial meeting to discuss dates and start to
complete the necessary paperwork. The Catholic Church requires six months
notice prior to the date of the wedding.
The dates are Saturday 8th November 2008, Saturday 14th
February 2009, Saturday 16th May 2009, Saturday 6th June and Saturday 27th June 2009.
Each course begins at 10.00 am and finishes at 4.00 pm. The cost is �40 per
couple.
Baptism Preparation
Every parent who wishes to have their child baptised must attend an evening meeting to discuss the meaning and responsibilities of Baptism. These sessions will be held at regular intervals throughout the year on the following dates:
15th October, 26th November, 13 January 2009, 4 March, 13 May,and 8 July. these talks will last from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm and take place at St Mary Moorfields Presbytery.
Adult Baptism, Confirmation and Reception into the Church
The Parish also runs a course specifically aimed at those
who wish to be Baptised, Confirmed or Received into the Church. This course is
ideal for those preparing for marriage and who were not Confirmed as teenagers.
Every Catholic who wishes to marry abroad, including Ireland, has to be
Confirmed. The course lasts 12 weeks and begins on 22nd September
with the Sacrament being administered on Sunday 15th February 2009. There
will be a second course commencing on Monday 9th March 2009 with the
Sacrament being administered on Sunday 5th July 2009.
