On 31st October, the eve of All Saints day (Hallow e'en), this parish of All Saints, celebrated it's patronal feast day. This year, it was  celebrated with particular gusto, because our church has recently been completely refurbished and extended. To mark this achievement, the parishioners were joined by Archbishop Vincent Nichols, (Archbishop of Westminster and leader of the Catholic Church in England & Wales) who was the principal celebrant at the Vigil Mass for All Saints, and was in turn, assisted by thirteen other priests, who have ministered in the parish at some time in their ministry. There has been a Catholic church in Kenton since 1932; the present church was built in 1963. This year, under the instruction of Francis Weal of Weal Architects, Montway Construction completed the refurbishment in September. Over the years, the Catholic population of Kenton has remained steady, however, the demographic has changed, now reflecting that of Kenton at large. In the early years of the church, a strong Irish population supported its growth,  while now that growth is driven by a new influx of Asian and central Europeans. This rich diversity of cultures gathered in the unity of the Church,  was celebrated joyfully at All Saints, Kenton. Many thanks to all who helped in any way on Monday evening. So many people gave generously of their time to help prepare the liturgy and celebration in the marquee afterwards. The dignity and prayerfulness of the Mass left a mark on all in attendance and was a wonderful reflection of the rich diversity in our faith community.

The Risen Christ
Passers By
This Christ floats in air
on the church’s façade
His body unbroken
no nails no blood
His feet are unsandalled,
His beard tightly curled
He stands, it might be,
on the shore of the world.

The Muslim and Hindu
who travel this road
May seem to ignore Him,
for them He’s no God,
And even the Christians don’t notice Him there
Alone, unregarded, and floating in air.

Mankind hurries past
with a care-driven tread,
The Sikh’s little dog
pulls with haste at his lead;
How long He has wandered,
now stopped here by chance
A Presence in stillness,
this Lord of the Dance.

You can request planned giving envelopes or a bankers' order form from the parish office. If you are a tax payer, you can Gift Aid your offerings by completing a Gift Aid form. When you 'Gift Aid' your offering, it means the church can claim back 25p in every £1 you give - at no extra cost to you. It makes a substantial difference to the church - so please consider the 'Gift Aid' scheme.
Please ask the parish office for details. Thank you.
