Parish Groups and Organisations

Altar Servers
We have teams of Altar Servers who serve at each of the Sunday Masses. Training of new Altar Servers takes place each Lent. To be eligible, children must be in Year 4 and have made their First Holy Communion.

Choir
The choir sings at the 11.00am Sunday Mass and practice once a fortnight for an hour on a Wednesday evening. New members (both men and women) are very welcome.  We also have a Filipino choir that sing at the 9.00am Mass.

Divine Mercy Prayer Group
The Divine Mercy Group meets in the Presbytery on Tuesdays from 2.00pm—3.30pm and from 7.00pm—8.30pm. Members reflect on God’s mercy and forgiveness through the readings of St Faustina’s diary and reflection on the Gospel message. Hymns and chants are sung or listened to at each session.  New members are welcome at either of the sessions.

Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina is a way of reflecting spiritually on a passage of scripture. A passage of scripture is read out loud and in silence we reflect on how it is speaking to our lives. People are then invited to share with the group (but only if they wish to) how the passage of scripture has spoken to them.  Lectio Divina takes place from 7.30pm-8.30pm in the Presbytery on the second Monday of each month from Lent to October.

Legion of Mary
Our Lady of the Holy Souls Praesidium is made up of Active and Auxiliary members. Active members regularly visit local nursing homes, hospitals and housebound and Auxiliaries’ homes to pray the Rosary and the Legion prayers. Active members  meet in the Presbytery every Wednesday evening from 7.00pm to 8.30pm to pray the Rosary and Legion prayers and to discuss forthcoming visits. Auxiliary members undertake to pray the Rosary and Legion prayers in their homes, with special intention for Active members. The Legion would be pleased to welcome new members who wish to join either as Active or Auxiliary members.

Mercy Associates
The Sisters of Mercy experience the support and collaboration of women and men with whom the values of Mercy are shared.  When Catherine McAuley, the first Sister of Mercy, began her work of Mercy in Dublin, she was joined by other women who were like-minded. Today, the Sisters still need the help of those who are like-minded and are willing to join in  their prayer life and support their works of mercy. If you would like more information on how to become a member—contact the Sisters for further information. The Associates meet monthly. For further information visit www.merciful.org and www.mercyworld.org.

Parish Minibus Team
We have a team of drivers and helpers who take out our parish minibus each Sunday to bring elderly and housebound parishioners to the 9.00am and 11.00am Masses.  if you would like to joij this dedicated team, please speak to Fr Shaun or Sr Margarita.

Parish Prayer Meeting
The Prayer Group meet weekly to share Scripture, sing, pray, give thanks, intercede for personal intentions and for the needs of our parish community and the wider church. The meeting takes place in the presbytery on Mondays from 2.00pm to 3.00pm.  Everybody is welcome to attend.

The Union of Catholic Mothers (known as UCM)
The Union of Catholic Mothers is an organization that believes in marriage and family, in prayer, justice and peace, helping the marginalized and those in difficulty, upholding Christian values, friendship and fun and lots more. Many of the members are involved in ministries in the parish. They provide support for varied and valuable Catholic action but nothing is undertaken at the expense of personal family life. Members meet socially, enabling them to make new friends. Meetings take place fortnightly on Monday evenings from 7.30pm-8.30pm. For more information contact the President. All mothers are welcome to become a member and to attend any events that are put on by the UCM.
