Our Annual Mass for the sick and housebound of the parish took place on
Saturday 12th September at 11.00am followed by lunch in the parish
hall. Volunteer drivers brought the housebound to Mass where they
received the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. The whole Liturgy
was wonderful and thanks to Fr Raymond for making it such a lovely,
welcoming Mass. Unfortunately there were several of the sick who were
unable to make the Mass, some at the last minute, but they were all
remembered in our prayers
After Mass the housebound were taken to the parish hall where a roast
dinner was prepared followed by Apple Crumble or trifle. Thanks again
to Anne and all the CWL for all their hard work. Everyone enjoyed the
occasion. Fr Raymond was in good form, helping to serve dinners and
calling out the raffle.
Thanks also to Bernard Kelly for his superb entertainment - as always.
Fr Dain
Many parishioners will remember Fr Dain who served this parish for many years. This year Fr Dain celebrates the 50th Anniversary of his Ordination to the priesthood. On 21st March, Fr Dain has agreed to come to a parish lunch to celebrate this great occasion. Anyone wishing to join us will be most welcome but we need numbers for catering. There will be no set charge but a donation box to cover the cost will be available on the day. Please give names to Vee 258684 or Monica 400331.
RCIA Rite of Election
This was a very special day for our candidates, families, sponsors and catechists. Although the bus journey took 2½ hours it was a good day and to see the cathedral so full was great. It was a happy occasion and we certainly had some laughs, especially when the catechist leading the candidates to the front to be introduced to the Bishops turned to find they had gone their separate ways (they had been ushered to the left and dutifully did what they were told).
A wonderful occasion and we look forward now to the Easter Vigil.
