STATIONS OF THE CROSS

During Lent, there will be Stations of the Cross at  7pm each Friday. This is a good opportunity to spend a short while

praying together and contemplating Our Lord.

HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE MEETING

There will be an information meeting with the tour guide for those who are going to the Holy Land.  The next instalment is due by 1st April 2010.

WALK TO TYBURN

We had a wonderful walk last Sunday from St Mary’s to Tyburn Convent to commemorate the many Priests who died for their faith at Tyburn gallows. There was no rain despite the forecast! We visited churches along the way and learned a little about the history of the churches and the Forty Martyrs of  England and Wales.  The Sisters were gracious and hospitable.CHOOSING THE COMMON GOOD

The Catholic Bishops of England and Wales have launched a new social teaching document intended to help Catholics decide how to vote at the forthcoming general election. The Bishops have made the case for a fundamental change in society

saying that faith communities are essential in achieving this.

THINGS TO DO IN LENT

Cut down on food and/or give up a meal once a week.

Put something in the CAFOD box every week.

If you have received a bonus from work, give a small portion to CAFOD or the poor.

Pray on the tube going to or from work.

Turn the TV off 5 minutes earlier and pause and pray about the day.

Say grace before and after meals.

Say your morning and night prayers.

Pray or attend the Stations of the Cross at Church.

Use the Lenten daily prayer and meditation books.

Go to Confession.

Attend a weekday Mass.

CATHOLIC NEWSPAPERS

The Catholic papers are available for purchase every week at the back of the Church. The Tablet in particular offers a Catholic viewpoint on current affairs and the Church in the world.

 

 

 CONFIRMATION

The Sacrament of Confirmation will be administered on Sunday

16th May at 5pm here at St Mary’s by Bishop Alan Hopes.FAIRTRADE COFFEE MORNING  7 MARCH 2010

As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, we will have a Fairtrade Coffee Morning to show our support for people in developing countries. Opportunity to buy fairtrade goods, coffee, tea, biscuits etc.

Thanksgiving Mass for the Sacrament of Matrimony

Have your say on “Assisting Suicide”.

There is an important consultation taking place about when cases on assisted suicide will be prosecuted. There are defects in the guidelines that if unchanged could greatly increase pressure one vulnerable people to kill themselves.

Children’s Liturgy

A Children’s Liturgy runs every Sunday at the 10AM Mass in term time. We welcome all school-age children (5+) who are ready to attend without their parents. If you are interested in leading Children’s Liturgy sessions, please contact Claire Roberts by email at claire_frognal@yahoo.co.uk

CCD CLASSES

For Children attending Non-Catholic Schools If your child attends a non-Catholic school, please register with Sister Pauline at St. Dorothy’s Convent, 99 Frognal for CCD Classes.
