Helping Poor Parishes
The current economic slowdown means that increasing numbers of people are struggling to make ends meet. This inevitably has a direct impact on the finances of our parishes. Already one in five are not covering their costs because, for example, the number of parishioners has declined and those that remain are unable to pay for the costs of running expensive to maintain buildings.
More often than not, the truth is that the parish is located in a deprived area where many parishioners simply don't have anything to give and it would be wrong to ask them to do so. Under Canon Law, all parishes are expected to cover their costs but, rather than let these parishes close down, the Diocese has set up the Trinity Fund - your donation can help us to support these parishes.
