News has been announced about where the Olympic Torch will go in the Diocese of Westminster.
Palmers Green, Edmonton, St Albans, Harrow, Hemel Hempstead, Westminster, Finchley, Hendon, Kingsbury, Wembley, Northolt, Southall, Ealing are only some of the places the torch will visit.
Olympic Torch Evening Celebrations will take place in the weeks prior to the Opening Ceremony. The Torch will be passing by many churches before and after this in the diocese. Life will stop for people to come onto the streets to see the torch. This will provide parishes with a one-off opportunity to offer people hospitality and to engage with the local community, either alone or jointly with other local churches.
To help plan for the Torch Relay as well as for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in June and Olympic and Paralympic Games themselves, there will be a specially tailored training day for the Christian communities led by More Than Gold on Saturday 31 March in East London at St Angela’s School, St George’s Road, London E7 8HU.
The training day will be held from 10:30am to 4:00pm, costing £10 per person. People can book at the door but it is best to register online
