On Sunday 11 March, Bishop John Sherrington was interviewed on BBC 3 Counties about the Catholic Church's stance on same-sex marriage.
Bishop John defended the institution of marriage, between a man and woman, supporting the pastoral letter by Archbishop Vincent Nichols and Archbishop Peter Smith, read out in parishes across England and Wales on the weekend of the 10 and 11 March.
The pastoral letter, and increasingly public discussions about the definition of marriage, come ahead of the governments plans to look at redefining the legal meaning of marriage to include same sex couples.
