Congratulations to Jeremy Fairhead, who has been named a Chaplain to His Holiness with the title of Monsignor.
Mgr Mark Langham writes: Mgr Fairhead works in Rome at the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People, and was previously Catholic Chaplain at Oxford University. This means the colony of Westminster priests in the Roman Curia now boasts three Monsignori, as Mgr Fairhead joins Mgrs Whitmore and Langham, all proudly flying the diocesan flag in the eternal city.
The Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People was established in 1970, with the task of studying and providing pastoral care to “people on the move” such as migrants, exiles, refugees, displaced people, pilgrims, students and tourists. Mgr Fairhead brings to his work in the Curia the considerable experience he gained at the Oxford chaplaincy from 2002 to 2007, and before that as senior Chaplain at London University.
