In the diocese of Westminster the celebration of the sacrament of confirmation generally occurs in adolescence, completing the sacraments of initiation for our young people. The challenge is to help our young people to recognise and to fruitfully draw on the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they grow into adult Christians. This page will provide resources for the formation of catechists, information about published programmes, together with materials to support existing programmes.

As our children grow we are constantly helping them to become aware that they belong to God’s family. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is an effective sign that that God always wants us to be part of this family — even when we fail. As parents, your role is as ‘first and best teachers of the faith’. This website will provide you with resources to support you in this role, helping you to develop your own understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation so that you are more able to support your children in their growth in faith and their experience of this celebration of forgiveness and love.

The Church follows a Liturgical Calendar that connects the seasons of the year to the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus, providing us with a framework to enter more deeply into the Paschal Mystery of our Lord. The liturgical year encompasses the rites, celebrations, and feasts that take place during the Church year and are highlighted in the Scripture readings and prayers of the Mass. This page offers resources and suggestions for liturgical catechesis to be used within your current programmes of sacramental preparation as well as suggestions of ways in which families celebrate the important moments in the cycle of the Church’s year at home.
