The Walk With Me programme is for family and parish use. It was published with the authority of the Department for Formation of the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales for children from 5-11 years of age. It is a specially written programme for children who are not attending Catholic schools and who come to the parish for their religious education. All children in the parish who do not attend Catholic schools should be attending this programme.
The focus for each term in this programme is provided by a basic
human<—>religious question:
Autumn term about life Where did I come from?
Spring term about life’s dignity Who am I?
Summer term about life’s purpose Why am I here?
Christians believe that the answer to the questions is Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift to us. It is for this reason that at the centre of the diagram on the cover of the book you see the familiar symbol for Christ. He is the Revelation of God, in whom we live and have dignity and purpose.
Each session of Walk With Me enables children to come together to explore, to discover and to celebrate some aspect of Catholic life and faith. Your children will bring home ideas for ‘on we go’ - things to do at home. These invite the children and their parents to live with new awareness of God who is God-with-us every day of our lives.
There are meetings for the parents to help them to understand what the children are learning and so to support them at home.
