Every parent who wishes to have their child baptised must
attend an evening meeting to discuss the meaning and responsibilities of Baptism.
These sessions will be held at regular intervals on Wednesday 15th October,
Wednesday 26th November, Tuesday 13th January 2009, Wednesday
4th March, Wednesday 13th May and Wednesday 8th
July. The talks will last from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm and will be held at St Mary
Moorfields presbytery.
First Communion
The First Communion course will begin in late January 2009.
Sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm with a break for
Easter. The sacrament will be celebrated on Sunday 21st June 2009.
Confirmation
The Confirmation course will begin on 4th
November. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm with a break
for Christmas. The sacrament will be administered by Bishop Bernard Longley on
19th April 2009.
Marriage Preparation Days
St Mary Moorfields holds regular marriage days for those who
either live or work in the City and is also able to complete the necessary
paperwork and undertake the essential task of spiritual and human preparation
for marriage. There will be three preparation days through the year for all
those couples who wish either to be married here, in St Mary Moorfields Church,
elsewhere in Great Britain or abroad. Attendance at one marriage day is
compulsory for those who wish to be prepared through this Church. Please
contact the Church to arrange an initial meeting to discuss dates and start to
complete the necessary paperwork. The Catholic Church requires six months
notice prior to the date of the wedding.
The dates are Saturday 8th November 2008,
Saturday 14th February 2009, Saturday 16th May 2009,
Saturday 6th June and Saturday 27th June 2009. Each
course begins at 10.00 am and finishes at 4.00 pm. The cost is �40 per couple.
Adult Baptism, Confirmation and Reception into the Church
A special course is run from St Mary Moorfields aimed at
those adults who wish to be Baptised, Confirmed or Received into the Church.
This course is ideal for those preparing for marriage and who were not
Confirmed as teenagers. Every Catholic who wishes to marry abroad, including
Ireland, has to be Confirmed. The course lasts 12 weeks and begins on 22nd
September with the Sacrament being administered on Sunday 15th
February 2009. There will be a second course commencing on Monday 9th
March 2009 with the Sacrament being administered on Sunday 5th July
2009.
Carmel-in-the-City is a spirituality event at St. Joseph’s Church, Lamb’s Passage, Bunhill Row EC1Y 8LE, on the 1st Saturday of each month except August.
