You helped me in so many ways, you made me see I was not just a face in the crowd, may you enjoy your retirement with our lords blessing.

Dear Cardinal Cormac It was my joy to act as your deacon on many occasions in Westminster Cathedral (prior to my move to the Highlands six months ago). I was of course a Southwark Deacon, but always looked to you as my Shepherd! I always felt relaxed and at ease in your company. You always gave me the impression that you were pleased to see me. I remember well on Easter Sunday 2008 (when it snowed in London) reminding you about the 'hot water bottle under your vestments story' from your days in Arundal and Brighton. What a surprise I got when you started your homily at the 10.30 am Mass with the story! I wish you every happiness and blessing in your well-deserved retirement in Chiswick. I consider it a privilege and blessing to have known you, and should you ever want to visit the Scottish Highlands, you will be more than welcome. I would however recommend a hot water bottle if you come in winter!
