Parish details
The Parish of Baywater is situated in the North Kensington Deanery. It was founded in 1857.

St Mary of the Angels is a large, friendly and vibrant parish in a busy part of London. The Church was built in 1857, and for over 100 years was served by priests of the Order of St Charles Borromeo, whose motto HUMILITAS (humility) can be seen around the Church.

Originally, the parish served the Irish Immigrants who were building Paddington Station. Their numbers were later swelled by members of the Caribbean and Hispanic Communities. Now, St Mary's hosts a large Portuguese congregation, and includes parishioners from every part of the world. The parish is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster, and serves the varied and vibrant community of Bayswater and Notting Hill.

Our church services have a regular weekly attendance of over one thousand people. Last year we completed the rebuilding of parts of the church and its buildings to make the Father Michael Hollings Centre, dedicated to the memory fo Father Michael who devoted his life to serving the Parish and the needs of the homeless

We've now finished a complete rebuild of our Victorian heating system and for the first time in decades our Church Bell is ringing again. We're also waiting to lay new floor tiles in the nave and are restoring the Lady Chapel. Over the next few years we will be trying to renovate the whole interior of the church to restore it to its original glory, ready for the Consecration of the church by H.E. the Cardinal on 4th November 2007; the 150th anniversary of the building of St Mary of the Angels.

There will be a number of celebrations leading up to this great day and more information will be found here as we put the programme together.
