Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter

“I was hungry and you fed me,

thirsty and you gave me a drink:

I was a stranger and you received me in your homes,

naked and you clothed me;

I was sick and you took care of me,

in prison and you visited me,

whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers and sisters

That you do unto me”

Churches in the London Borough of Ealing will be running a Winter Overnight Shelter for the homeless from 3rd January 2011 to 2nd April 2011.  We will use seven churches situated close to the Uxbridge Road as venues with homeless guests spending one night of the week at each church.  St Anselms Parish Centre in Southall will be the venue on Wednesday evenings.  St Anselms will not be expected to provide all the staff for it, as we hope that all the churches in the Ealing borough will want to be involved in some way.

The Shelter will take homeless guests on referral from St Mungo's, Ealing Soup Kitchen, Action Homeless Action and West London Churches Homeless Concern.  Parishes of St Anselms are warmlyh invited to participate in the work of this shelter, recalling our Lord's commandments to love our neighbours in the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and provide for those less fortunate than ourselves (Matt. 25:31-46).

How can Saint Anselm's Parishioners help?

If you can help in any way to support the volunteers, to make our fellow human beings welcome read the additional page of the Parish Newsletter - Fill in your details and put your completed form in the box at the back of the church labelled Ealing Night Shelter Volunteers.
