A Special Moment of Grace

The Bishops of England and Wales issued a National Pastoral Letter on the publication of the new translation of the Roman Missal, calling it "a special moment of grace in the English-speaking world"

According to the letter, the benefits of the new translation include:

  • a fuller expression of the content of the original texts
  • a closer connection with the Sacred Scriptures which inspire so much of our liturgy
  • a recovery of a vocabulary that enriches our understanding of the mystery we celebrate

All over the English-speaking world, parishes are now using the new liturgical texts at Mass.

The letter concludes by asking us to "welcome the new translation of the Roman Missal as a sign of our unity and a powerful instrument of God’s grace in our lives"

Missal Resources

Resources for understanding the changes are available from the Catholic Truth Society and other publishers, and from the Bishops' Conference of England & Wales and the US Bishops' Conference

NEW SEASON FAITH SHARING GROUPS

Sparks of Light

26th February – 7th April

This Lent, across London and across the country, small groups of   Christians will meet in their homes and parish halls to share their faith and look at the theme of holiness, entitled Sparks of Light.

Archbishop Vincent Nichols writes in his foreword to the new booklet Sparks of Light:  “My desire is that this faith-sharing resource will help you to see that ‘saintly’ living is as much for you as it has been for anyone, and that you will explore how in the seeming ordinariness of daily living you can be an effective agent, a spark of light, in the Church’s mission today.

The list of the current groups can be found at the back of the Church
